Old Star Maps & Celestial Charts
This collection brings together old star maps, celestial charts and astronomical diagrams from Andreas Cellarius’s Harmonia Macrocosmica and other historic works of celestial cartography.
First published in 1660, Cellarius’s atlas presents astronomy, cosmology and classical mythology through elaborate engraved plates. The charts illustrate different historical models of the universe, the movement of the planets, the constellations and the relationship between astronomical observation and artistic representation.
Each celestial map is reproduced from a historic original and printed individually in our Cornwall workshop using archival pigment inks on textured fine art paper.
