Romania 1566
Interesting to note from this very early map that Bucharest (Bocaretz) in the south-east bore less prominence than Burzenland its northerly neighbour whereby its historical, cultural, economic and social hub was based at that time. A magnificently detailed old map unprecedented in the time for its amazing success in combining function with beauty with its stupendous detail – including the hundreds of towns and villages, fascinating routes of rivers back to their respective sources, and the delightful depiction of mountain ranges.
