GLIMPSE THE HISTORIC CITY CENTRE OF ENGLAND’S CAPITAL WITH THE WENCESLAUS HOLLAR 17th CENTURY EDITION
From the rare atlas by Van der Hagen published in the Netherlands by Wencesclas Hollar and others. Fine illustrations enhance the map, including Whitehall, Westminster, Covent Garden and the Tower of London.
Finished in exquisite detail and vivid colours, the original map engraving of London was designed by accomplished etcher and draughtsman Wenceslaus Hollar. Dated to 1688, the antique London map was printed and distributed as part of the Atlas Van der Hagen collection and features an ornate illustration depicting the city from Westminster through Whitehall, Covent Garden, and the Tower of London. Featuring a double portrait of William III and Mary Stuart, the royal pair are bordered by the English and Scottish coat of arms and framed with an illustrated key of monuments and stately architecture from across the region.
