Description

Remaining as an archetypal example of Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s design mastery the station opened in 1840 as detailed on this clock face. Indeed it is now has Grade II listing status.
Originally built in Tudor style with a grand hammer beam roof  removed in 1897 when the station enjoyed a redesign. At the entrance a fascinating Jacobethan façade remains with mullioned windows.
