Description
Cardiff Central stands on what was once the floodplain of the River Taff. To create a stable foundation for the station, the renowned engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel devised a plan to reroute the river. The original station opened in 1850, and over the years, it underwent multiple expansions and renovations. In the early 1930s, elements of the elegant Art Deco style were introduced, adding to its architectural charm. Today, as a Grade II listed building, Cardiff Central remains the busiest railway station in Wales.
