We believe this edition dates from circa 1700. The variegated colouring which is of exceptional quality and retain its original vibrance would have been meticulously and sympathetically
effected by hand after publication, as of course colour printing was not to appear
until many centuries later.

Amongst the stunning features to be enjoyed within this Old Map of America are insets of The Gulf of Mexico and Carolina, Charlestown and more, a stunning depiction of the wild life around Niagra Falls and various fascinating notes including an account of the Treaty of Utrecht and its rules therein concerning the rights of the French fishing fleet!

Altogether a most thrilling publication and a thing of great beauty.
